| The week of May 11th 2011 - -Thomas will be speaking at Holy Trinity High School in Simcoe, ON, on June 1st 2011. He will be launching the 'Teens Write For Fun 2011 Contest', presented by the Norfolk Public Library in Simcoe. Tom will be talking to approx 40 students aged 13 to 18 about the creative writing process, and things that he has learned in the 4 years he's been a published author. This will be the second time Tom has spoken to students about writing. Read about Tom's school talks HERE. -The big news is that Tom just got his very first ever published book review. It came in the form of a good review by Chris Morgan for Scene Magazine out of London. Tom dropped off a copy of the book and review at the Woodstock Sentinel-Review in hopes they cover it in some way. Have a look at the Carnal Wreckage review HERE! -It's a brand new year, and with that we want to recap the year 2010 in the way of sales. It was a slow year for physical book sales, while it was the first year for sales through Amazon's Kindle Program. Tom sold 111 books in 2010, and 2/3's of those were through Kindle! 57 copies of Castle Lake were sold at Kindle, which is really neat. Tom hopes for a banner year in 2011, getting things up and going at Kindle and promoting all seven of his books. Have a look at Tom's Amazon profile by clicking here to see Tom on Amazon! - Many people are curious to Tom's book sales over the years. From 2007 to 2009, the sales were totally based on physical books available at the time. In 2007 Tom sold 178 books, in 2008 he sold 172 books, and in 2009 there were 60 books sold. Since February 2007, Tom has sold 521 books in total. Most of those have been Castle Lake, which Tom would love to see made into a movie. - "Those Three Words" has sold over a 100 copies at Lulu.com for Karen Ryerse and she is pretty pumped. The book is being printed through The Isis Press and Lulu. The book can be ordered directly from Lulu HERE. Tom has copies for sale as well. The book is now available on Kindle too, so we'd like to see those sales begin to happen. -Tom was very disappointed with the attendance and sales at both the 'Oxford Creates' cultural exhibition at Craigowen in Huntingford and also the 'Author's Book Fair' held in Port Dover this past November, 2010. The people who came through the Oxford Creates event weren't in the mood to buy books, and people just didn't come out to the book show in Port Dover. It was a shame in 'Dover because it was a top notch event, and book lovers everywhere missed an awesome opportunity for some great reads. Tom only sold 3 books at the Woodstock event, and 5 at Port Dover, way down from last year. We're not sure of the future of these types of events. They are very well organized, but just not properly promoted. People can't come if they don't know about it. -Castle Lake is now available for sale at the Oxford Book Shop in London. This is Tom's first London retailer, and he is very pleased. Their number is 519- 438-8336, and they are at 740 Richmond Street, at Oxford. -Thomas spoke to the Grade 7 and 8 class of Sandra Hurley on April 3rd at the Trinity Private School in Innerkip. It was Tom's first talk to a group of students this young, and he felt the talk was a success. Read about it HERE. -Have you joined Thomas' Facebook group yet? The group was started on Aug 1st by T.B. Publicity, and now has over 300 members. Please join the group today at this link HERE! -Tom's appearence on the Rogers Cable TV show "Daytime" was a great success. Tracey Andrus was an awesome interviewer. The interview has been watched over 575 times and is available at Youtube HERE! |
