Summers' Stand
On the surface, Autumn Summers might seem like your average twenty-five year old woman. She frets over her looks and weight, tries to buy things on sale, talks to friends for hours on the phone, and hopes to meet the right guy. But there is another side to Autumn. Unlike most women her age, Autumn has recently become the Supreme Leader of her country, Thessalon. As well as her day to day worries, Autumn also has to contend with a potential rebellion, a rumored assassination, and a looming war with the country to the north. What is a woman to do?

Summers' Stand is a story that takes place in our own time-line, but in another galaxy, far from our own. The country of Thessalon is one of seventy different countries on the planet of Galetta. In many ways, Galetta is very similiar to earth.

Autumn has only been the Prime Chancellor of Thessalon for six months, having succeded her late father, Thurston. There are not only doubts of her leadership in her own country, but neighboring ones as well. Autumn is known as a party girl, and she loves to have a little reckless fun. She enjoys her drink, and has a wild streak. How many cars has she wrecked now? Is Autumn providing her country with the proper image?

Thessalon is a rich country whose economy is based on tourism. The country is famous for it's miles and miles of sandy beaches and crystal blue water. The Capital city of Craigport is chocked full of casinos, adult entertainment centres, horse racing, track betting, and a fantastic marina.

The country is protected by a civilian militia led by Saylor Haywood, but there isn't an actual army to speak of. The strong leadership of Thurston Summers provided protection enough. But now even some citizens of Thessalon aern't sure if Autumn is up to the job, including her own military advisor, Vollox Chaste.

Although support in her country is mixed, her step-mother, Shasta, seems to stand behind her. Shasta had originally been upset that the throne didn't go to her when Thurston died, but has now appeared to accept Autumn as the small nation's leader.

As the novel opens, Tristan Thorsen has just been elected as the President of the land locked country of Raith, north of Thessalon. Tristan and his military advisor, Adam Strong, both eye up Thessalon and 'her' water access. Taking over Thessalon should be a cakewalk for a heavily armed miltary based country like Raith.

Can Autumn prove that she is the leader her father believed her to be? Can she prevent a rebellion, thwart an assassination, and prevent a war at the same time?

Everything is laid on the line for Autumn; her future, her career, and possibly her very life.

Summers' Stand. One woman, one country, one fight.
