| "So...this is it," Belinda Parry spoke thoughtfully, as the cement and glass multi-leveled complex building loomed in front of her, "So this is Fun City." It is the year 2061. In some ways the country is a better place, and in other ways it's not. The citizens of the Unified Peoples Commonwealth enjoy a life free of strife and upheaval. Their jobs are secure, and they live in an environment where all citizens respect each other without a second thought. Recreations include physical sports, cerebral activities, music, sex, and government approved stimulates. Twenty-five year old Belinda Parry tries to never take living in her utopian society for granted. She appreciates a society that celebrates hard work balanced with healthy and stimulating recreation. Life is truly good. However, the Municipal Authority had decided that Belinda needs a vacation. They believe that she is too emotionally charged, and stressed, especially with the recent break up between her and her boyfriend, Nick Thomas. As well, Belinda's job at the electronics factory is anything but challenging. Is is wrong for Belinda to want more from her life? Enter 'The New Outlook Centre,' better known by the slang term of 'Fun City.' Forty-four square acres of soul searching recreation. Belinda travels to Fun City with a similarly trouble female, Orlean Maidens. Once at the Centre, Belinda and Orlean are greeted by the staff. There is something about the facility adminstrator, Dr. Josef Menke, that nags at some folks. He looks so damn familiar. As well, nurses Maria Dey and Marsha Hall seem to have as many issues as the patients. As Belinda and Orlean settle in at Fun City, things begin to take a curious turn. Nothing is what it seems or appears. Are dreams just dreams, or something more? Fun City opens the doors for new self-discoveries and new alliances. Just who is Belinda Parry and what is her place in the world? Before she knows it, Belinda is not only questioning the society in which she lives, but her very place within it. Fun City is the 'Alice in Wonderland' of the new millennium, a novel of the future. Medicine had progressed so far that all the ills of this day and age are solely in the mind. And Fun City is just the prescription. Available at Amazon.com HERE. |

| The Ingersoll Times - Wed April 2nd 2008, Page 8 This is a great story on Thomas Ryerson, his writing and his published novels. It's great to have that local support. The colour picture was also a very nice touch! Thank you Ingersoll! |
