Castle Lake is getting great reviews from everyone who reads the book; they all like the eerie tale of Alicia Murdock and her family curse. A family curse that was set in place generations before she was even born.

August 11th 1888 is Alicia's 16th birthday. It's guaranteed to be a birthday she will never forget. Will she be the life of the party, or the death?

Castle Lake is a fictional period novel set in Roulston, a community located south of Hornerseth and takes place from 1821 to 1888.

Author Thomas Ryerson originally came up with the idea for the novel in 1984 and was inspired by the film 'Ghost Story.' The main idea was that Thomas wanted to get back to the roots and feeling of a good old fashioned ghost story. There are also neat links and references to Travelogue!

The actual writing of Castle Lake was begun in early November of 2006 when it became Thomas' entry into the National Novel Writing Month Contest. The contest was to write a 50,000 word novel in one month.

Thomas started writing 'Castle Lake' on November 3rd and finished the first draft on December 30th. Just under two months from start to finish. The novel was completed in February 2007, and published in Canada on Feb 18th 2007. The book will be issued in the USA by the
Grey Swan Press on August 6th 2008.

The original 2007 version of Castle Lake is still available from
Lulu. The newer revised 2008 Grey Swan Press version is the one now available at Amazon.com and the Merrifield Book Store in Woodstock. The author will have copies on his person too. The new version is the same price, $20.00
Castle Lake Press
The first press for Castle Lake. This interview was conducted on Friday Feb 2nd 2007 at the Simcoe Reformer. Tom found Janet really easy to talk to, and probably talked a little too fast! Little mistakes-The National Novel Writing Month Challenge was for a 50,000 word novel, Tom lives at home with his children Courtny and Marc, and he and his girlfriend do not co-habitat and finally the website address is incorrect.
Tom's second press comes hot on the heels of his first. The above interview was conducted with Heather Rivers on February 21st 2007. Small mistakes-Tom is actually 42, the book is called Castle Lake, Tom was married a second time at the age of 39, the divorce is currently proceeding, Tom doesn't think Castle Lake is a simple story, he said compared to Travelogue, Castle Lake is a simple story. Castle Lake is a well thought out novel with interesting twists and cliffhangers. Although the novel only took 4 months to complete, Tom stands behind it as a work to be proud of.  Alicia Murdock is actually the great granddaughter of the one feuding father, James Murdock.
